When John and Yoko went to live in New York in 1971, John met Bob Gruen, a well known rock photographer, who became his friend and neighbour. Responding to the two histories of Bluecoat - school and gallery - this group exhibition at Bluecoat explores alternative twentieth century histories of creative education and their resonance today. Artists have been invited to upturn the conventions of the gallery with young visitors as their primary audience. Artists include Simon & Tom Bloor who, inspired by Kurt Rowland’s ‘Looking and seeing’ series, will turn the window gallery into a studio space while Liverpool based artist Emily Speed will make a number of playful architectural interventions. FOLK FESTIVAL ON THE DOCK

The Albert Dock's Folk Festival on the Dock began in 2016, presented by the BBC's Janice Long. The event welcomed over 100 folk, roots and sea shanty acts making almost 450 performers.
