JOHN LENNON: THE NEW YORK YEARS 1971 - 1980 (Exhibition)

When John and Yoko went to live in New York in 1971, John met Bob Gruen, a well known rock photographer, who became his friend and neighbour. BRAZILICA FESTIVAL

Brazilica is a unique festival in the UK celebrating Brazilian arts and culture. In July each year, the festival brings artists from the UK , Europe and Brazil to Liverpool. Over 800 performers take part in the night time carnival parade through the city centre with glittering costumes, floats and the irresistible sounds of samba. ABACUS (Exhibition)

Responding to the two histories of Bluecoat - school and gallery - this group exhibition at Bluecoat explores alternative twentieth century histories of creative education and their resonance today. Artists have been invited to upturn the conventions of the gallery with young visitors as their primary audience. Artists include Simon & Tom Bloor who, inspired by Kurt Rowland’s ‘Looking and seeing’ series, will turn the window gallery into a studio space while Liverpool based artist Emily Speed will make a number of playful architectural interventions.
