DOUBLE FANTASY (Exhibition)

Double Fantasy - John & Yoko, at Museum of Liverpool from 18 May 2018 to 22 April 2019, is a free exhibition, celebrating the meeting of two of the world’s most creative artists who expressed their deep and powerful love for one another through their art, music and film. They used their fame and influence to campaign for peace and human rights across the world, transforming not only their own lives, but art, music and activism forever. Featuring personal objects alongside art, music and film produced by John and Yoko, the exhibition is drawn from Yoko’s own private collection, some of which has never been displayed. BROKEN SYMMETRIES (Exhibition)

A new international exhibition premiering at FACT, Liverpool, Broken Symmetries, brings together artists who aim to understand and question the physical world by navigating the shifting realities of modern science. Broken Symmetries encompasses a wide-range of artistic approaches: reflecting the diverse ways in which scientists and artists are collaborating in both tackling and communicating some of the most elaborate concepts of modern physics. Broken Symmetries is co-produced by the ScANNER Network, consisting of: FACT (Liverpool), CCCB (Barcelona), Le Lieu Unique (Nantes), iMAL (Brussels) and Arts at CERN (Geneva). Premiering in the UK, the exhibition will then travel to the partner organisations in Spain, France and Belgium until 2020. Santa’s Grotto Wayfarers Shopping Arcade

Wayfarers Shopping Arcade is a magical place at Christmas… especially when Santa comes to call. People travel long distances to call in and marvel at how beautiful it looks. For many a visit to Wayfarers is one of the highlights of their Christmas celebrations. Every year there is a very special grotto which is run by Southport Lions Club with all proceeds going to charity. Suggested donations are: £5 x 1 child, £8 x 2, £12 x 3 and £16 x 4 Santa will be in residence each Saturday and Sunday in December up to Christmas on 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd December from 11am – 4pm Christmas Eve 11am – 2pm From Santa to Sofas, Grottos to Guitars, Handbags to Holly.. This Christmas we’ve got it all. A Magical Christmas Shopping Experience under one spectacular roof!

Christmas Craft Fair - Northwest Regional Spinal Injuries Centre

Stalls will be located in the Gymnasium from 12(noon) to 4pm. All local crafts people are welcome to sign up for a table at a cost of £10 each. Come along to sell your crafty creations or Christmas themed gifts and decorations! All are welcome. Visitors on the day can chat to local charities, browse the stalls, and enjoy delicious refreshments and Christmas entertainment. The fair will raise much needed funds for the refurbishment of the Spinal Injuries Centre's Garden. 2018 SANTA SPECIALS West Lancashire Light Railway

This year our Santa trains will be running on Sunday December 9th and on the two weekends of 15th/16th and 22nd/23rd December. Trains run from 10.30 to 17.00 each day. Children meet Santa and receive a present. Adults receive a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie! Hot dogs and hot drinks are also available. Advance booking fares: adults £5.50, children £8.50. Children under 3 free if a present is not required and they can sit on an adult's lap. Advance booking is strongly recommended - we sold out last year! Southport Strings Ensemble (concert)

On Saturday 15th December Southport String Ensemble will be performing a selection of Christmas Music in the arcade from 1.30 pm – 3 pm. Southport String Ensemble is directed and coached by Sarah Marks. The group was established in 1990 for young string players aged 4 – 18.

Iridium (Concert))

Iridium will be performing a selection of Christmas music in the arcade from 1.30 – 3.00pm Iridium is a group of adult string players who meet once a fortnight to play music together. Established in 2014 the group aim to give two concerts a year to raise money for local charities. The group is keen to form links with other like-minded groups in the North West to make friends, play music and socialise!

LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW

Entering its fourth year, the Liverpool International Horse Show will again be held at Liverpool's Echo Arena and runs from Friday 28th to Monday 31st December. Setting the bar for equestrian events, some of the world's finest riders, including Olympians and Global sports stars, will compete for the ultimate Grand Prix Liver Bird Show Jumping trophy.
