THIS year we not only have one fantastic event, but lots of them over 1 week in June!
The Veterans Fund this year is being part funded by the Community Foundation of Merseyside and will to help towards the cost of The British Armed Forces and Veterans Day 2009 on Victoria Park. This amazing day is completely FREE to the public and is a fantastic family day out.
....These are a few highlights of what will happen in 2009....
Set for the 28 June2009 it is to bring awareness for our serving members of the Armed Forces, Veterans and Cadets. It is also a recruiting day and it is hoped it will attract much needed adults to help out at local cadet units. This will be the highlight of the week long event. Entertainment through out the event consist of brass bands, stunt displays, Merseyside Police Horse Display Team and dog display teams. As well as other shows put on by the armed forces. Sideshows include a death slide, paint gun range, military vehicles and police vehicles, ambulances as well as other forms of display including a steam engine! Also lots of amazing stands to visit and other interesting things to do....
There is also a Barbeque and Disco on the park for all the cadets on Friday the 26 June 2009. Sponsored by Dune FM who will provide the Disco. Local Scout troops and guides are also welcome.
The band for the British Armed Forces parade on the 27 June 2009 will be the Regimental Band of the Royal Air Force and it is hoped they will also lead The Southport Veterans Day carnival in the afternoon.

"The show is an enjoyable and fun for all the family. It will attract not only Veterans and their families and children, but also holiday makers and locals alike. As there is no charge on the gate for the public, so as to attract as many people as possible, we need your help! We need events like this to encourage people to visit Southport, so by helping us you help your business... This event this a prime opportunity to elevate the image of your business with in the local community and the wider area. There are various deals available from sponsoring the whole event to individual activity such as the 'Battle of Britain Memorial Flypast', the 'dog team demonstration', 'aerial rope slide', 'The Lancastrian Band' and your local cadet displays. We offer businesses affordable sponsorship and advertising deals you really can't ignore in this current climate. So do not miss this chance to help you business get noticed. Most importantly, the money raised is not for us to make a huge profit, but to cover the cost of the show and back into the charity." Kindest regards, Steve Hawkshaw.
